When men moved without seeking God, it cost them.

TOPIC: *THE COST OF MOVING WITHOUT SEEKING GOD FIRST: IMPATIENCE HAS ROBBED MANY OF THEIR DESTINY*

CIC79: *CELEBRITY IN CHRIST EPISODE 79*

Many people did not fail because God forgot them; they failed because they refused to wait for God's timing.

*One of the greatest patterns in Scripture is this:*

Men can be called by God, anointed by God, used by God, and still make costly decisions when they move without first seeking the Lord.

*That should humble every one of us.*

Because the issue is not always rebellion.

*Sometimes it is fear.*
*Sometimes it is impatience.* *Sometimes it is pressure.*
*Sometimes it is pride.*
*Sometimes it is grief.*
_Sometimes, it is human reasoning dressed up like wisdom._

*But the pattern is clear:*

When men moved without seeking God, it cost them.

HERE ARE SOME EXAMPLES:

1. 📖 *Joshua and the leaders of Israel made covenant with the Gibeonites because they judged by what they saw.*

The Bible says plainly:

📖 “But they did not ask counsel from the Lord.” — Joshua 9:14

_They looked at the old bread._
_They looked at the worn-out clothes._
_They listened to the story._
_They made a decision based on appearance._

But they never asked God.

*The cost?* They entered into a covenant they were never supposed to make.

*That is a warning.*

_Not everything that looks old is honest._
_Not everything that sounds sincere is sent by God._
_Not every opportunity is divine._
_Not every open door is from Heaven._

Discernment begins where assumption ends.

2. 👑 *Saul moved before Samuel came because he was afraid of losing the people.*

He offered the sacrifice himself.

📖 1 Samuel 13 shows us Saul was under pressure.
_The people were scattering._
_The enemy was gathering._
_The situation looked urgent._

But urgency does not give us permission to disobey God.

*The cost?* Samuel told Saul his kingdom would not continue.

Fear made Saul move out of order. That is still happening today.

People make decisions because they are afraid of losing people.

_Afraid of losing money._
_Afraid of losing momentum._
_Afraid of looking weak._
_Afraid of missing out._
_Afraid of waiting too long._

But fear is a terrible counsellor. When fear leads, obedience usually suffers.

3. 👑 *David had zeal to bring back the Ark, but he did not seek God’s order the right way at first.*

_The desire was good._
_The mission looked spiritual._
_The people were excited._
_The worship was loud._

But the Ark was carried the wrong way.

*The cost?* Uzzah died.

Later, David said:

📖 “The Lord our God broke out against us because we did not seek Him according to the ordinance.” — 1 Chronicles 15:13

That is heavy. David was not trying to be evil. He was trying to do something good.

*But good intentions do not replace God’s instructions.*

Zeal without order can still produce damage.

This is where many people miss it. They say, “But my heart was right.”

_Yes, but did God say it?_
_Did God lead it?_
_Did God breathe on it?_
_Did God give the timing?_
_Did God give the method?_
_Did God give the instruction?_

Because in the Kingdom, how we do something matters too.

4. 👑 *David numbered Israel when God never told him to.*

_He counted his strength._
_He measured his army._
_He looked at numbers instead of trusting God._

*The cost?* A plague came upon Israel.

This is a warning for leaders.

*Be careful when you begin measuring success by numbers more than obedience.*

_Numbers are not wrong._
_Planning is not wrong._
_Counting is not always wrong._

But when the heart starts finding security in numbers instead of God, something is off.

What you count can reveal what you trust.

5. 👑 *Solomon had wisdom, but he still compromised.*

That should shake us.

_Solomon had encounters with God._
_Solomon built the temple._
_Solomon had supernatural wisdom._
_Solomon wrote Proverbs._

But later, he allowed relationships and compromise to turn his heart away from the Lord.

*The cost?* The kingdom was torn apart after him.

*This shows us something serious:*

_Yesterday’s wisdom does not excuse today’s compromise._

_You can have revelation and still need surrender._

_You can have history with God and still need daily obedience._

_You can be gifted and still drift._

No one is too wise to seek God.

6. 👑 *Rehoboam rejected the wisdom of the elders and listened to immature voices.*

The older counsellors told him to serve the people and speak kindly.

The younger voices told him to be harsh, heavy, and controlling.

He chose pride.

*The cost?* The kingdom split. Ten tribes were lost. This is another major warning.

*Who you listen to can determine what you lose.*

Not every voice around you is assigned to help you obey God.

_Some voices feed your pride._
_Some voices stir your anger._
_Some voices make you harsher than Heaven is asking you to be._
_Some voices encourage the version of you God is trying to crucify._

Bad counsel can cost you what God gave you to steward.

7. 👑 *Asa started well but ended by relying on man instead of God.*

At one point, Asa trusted the Lord and saw victory.

But later, he relied on a political alliance instead of seeking God. Then when he became diseased in his feet, Scripture says he sought physicians but did not seek the Lord.

*The cost?* Trouble, sickness, and a sad ending.

_Medicine is not the issue._
_Counsel is not the issue._
_Strategy is not the issue._

*The issue is when we seek everything else instead of God.*

_Doctors can help._
_Counselors can help._
_Leaders can help._
_Friends can help._
_Plans can help._

*But none of them are meant to replace seeking the Lord.*

Use wisdom, but do not make wisdom your god.

8. 👑 *Jehoshaphat was a good king, but he kept making bad alliances.*

_He partnered with Ahab._
_He nearly died in battle._
_A prophet rebuked him._

Later, his ships were destroyed because of another ungodly alliance.

*The cost?* Danger, rebuke, and loss.

*This is important:*

You can love God and still connect yourself to people God never told you to partner with.

_Not every alliance is assignment._
_Not every relationship is covenant._
_Not every opportunity is safe._
_Not every “kingdom connection” is from the Kingdom._

Wrong alignments can create unnecessary warfare.

9. 👑 *Uzziah became strong, and then his heart was lifted up.*

The Bible says that when he was strong, he became proud.

He entered the temple to burn incense, stepping into a place God never assigned him to step into.

*The cost?* Leprosy for the rest of his life.

*This is a warning about success.*

Sometimes failure humbles a man. But success reveals him.

*When God strengthens you, do not forget who gave the strength.*

_The gift does not make you above correction._
_The anointing does not make you above order._
_The platform does not make you above submission._
_The calling does not make you above obedience._

Strength without humility becomes dangerous.

10. 👑 *Hezekiah showed Babylon all his treasures.*

He opened up everything to people he should have been discerning.

*The cost?* Isaiah prophesied that those treasures would later be carried away to Babylon.

This is a warning about exposure.

*Do not show everything to everybody.*

_Some people do not need access to your treasure._
_Some people do not need access to your private victories._
_Some people do not need access to what God is building in secret._

Not because you are paranoid. Because you are discerning.

Premature exposure can create future captivity.

11. 👑 *Zedekiah heard the word of the Lord through Jeremiah but feared people more than God.*

He knew what God was saying. He heard the prophetic warning. But he was afraid of man.

*The cost?* Jerusalem fell, his sons were killed, his eyes were put out, and he went into exile.

That is one of the most sobering examples in Scripture.

*Fear of man can make a person reject the very word that could have saved them.*

When you fear people more than God, you can lose what obedience would have preserved.

*This is the pattern:*

🔥 Abraham moved by human solution — it cost his family.
🔥 Lot moved by what looked good — it cost his house.
🔥 Joshua moved without asking God — it cost Israel discernment.
🔥 Saul moved in fear — it cost him the kingdom.
🔥 David moved in zeal without proper order — it cost a life.
🔥 David counted what God did not command — it cost thousands.
🔥 Solomon compromised — it cost the kingdom.
🔥 Rehoboam listened to prideful counsel — it cost him ten tribes.
🔥 Asa relied on man instead of God — it cost him peace.
🔥 Jehoshaphat made wrong alliances — it cost him protection and progress.
🔥 Uzziah crossed boundaries in pride — it cost him his health.
🔥 Hezekiah exposed what should have been guarded — it cost future generations.
🔥 Zedekiah feared man — it cost him everything.

*The lesson is not complicated.*

📖 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” — Proverbs 3:5-6

*Notice it says:*

In all your ways acknowledge Him.

_Not some ways._
_Not just big ways._
_Not just church ways._
_Not just crisis ways._
_Not just when everything is falling apart._

*All your ways.*

_Before the relationship._
_Before the move._
_Before the partnership._
_Before the post._
_Before the purchase._
_Before the ministry decision._
_Before the confrontation._
_Before the covenant._
_Before the battle._
_Before the open door._
_Before the yes._
_Before the no._

*Seek the Lord.*

_Because what looks urgent may be a test._
_What looks good may be a trap._
_What looks small may carry major consequences._
_What looks like favor may actually be bait._
_What looks like delay may actually be protection._

🔥 *Anointing does not replace asking.*
🔥 *Experience does not replace prayer.*
🔥 *Wisdom does not replace Obedience 
🔥 *Zeal does not replace obedience.*
🔥 *Open doors do not replace discernment.*
🔥 *Pressure does not cancel God’s order.*

Before you move, ask God.

Before you answer, ask God.

Before you connect, ask God.

Before you react, ask God.

Before you build, ask God.

Before you fight, ask God.

*Because one word from God can save you from years of unnecessary warfare.*

One instruction from God can protect what your emotions would have exposed.

One warning from God can stop you from making a covenant with the wrong thing.

One correction from God can preserve your calling.

One “wait” from God can save your life.

*This is the hour to slow down and seek Him.*

Not out of fear. Out of reverence.

Because the safest place in the world is not the place that looks successful.

*It is the place God told you to be.*

🙏 Lord, teach us to seek You before we move. Deliver us from fear, pride, pressure, impatience, and human wisdom that moves without Your counsel. Make us people who ask, listen, wait, and obey. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

*IMPATIENCE HAS ROBBED MANY OF THEIR DESTINY.*

Many people did not fail because God forgot them; they failed because they refused to wait for God's timing.

Impatience can destroy in one moment what patience has been building for years.

Be patient with God, His delays are never His denials.

Be patient with your assignment. *Greatness grows before it shows*

Be patient with those God has sent to help you. DO NOT DESTROY divine relationships because of temporary emotions.

Be patient with your process. Every seed needs time before it becomes a harvest.

Whatever you force before its time may become a burden instead of a blessing.

He who can not wait for God's timing may end up settling for the devil's substitute.

*Ecclesiastes 3:11 He has made everything beautiful in His time.*
