*Feed what makes you stronger. Starve, what makes you weaker.
Because the flesh will always ask for another portion.*
TOPIC: *FLESH vs SPIRIT: Are you a NATURAL MAN or a SPIRITUAL MAN?*
Feeding fleshly desires is not harmless. It is a slow surrender of spiritual strength.
Every desire you repeatedly feed becomes stronger, while every part of your spiritual life that you repeatedly neglect becomes weaker.
The flesh never says enough. It always demands another taste, another indulgence, another compromise, another excuse.
*Galatians 5:16 KJV*
“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.”
The brutal reality is that you can not constantly feed the flesh and expect the spirit to remain strong.
*What you entertain repeatedly begins to control your attention.*
*What controls your attention begins to influence your choices.*
*What influences your choices eventually shapes your character.*
The flesh does not need your permission to become stronger. It only needs your continued feeding.
*Galatians 5:17 KJV*
“For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh.”
There is a war happening inside the person who keeps saying, *“It is only one more time.”* One more look. One more drink. One more dishonest conversation. One more indulgence. One more compromise. One more hour wasted. One more sinful pleasure.
The danger is not merely the individual act. The danger is what repeated indulgence is training you to love.
*Romans 13:14 KJV*
“Make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.”
_That means stop preparing a table for the very desires you claim you want to defeat._
*You can not keep the door open and then complain that temptation keeps entering.*
*You can not keep feeding the appetite and then wonder why the appetite keeps screaming.*
*You can not continually place yourself around what weakens you and pretend that your spiritual strength is unaffected.*
1 Peter 2:11 KJV
“Abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul.”
Peter does not describe fleshly lust as a harmless hobby. He describes it as something that wars against the soul.
*That is brutal.*
Some things are not merely entertainment.
Some conversations are not merely conversations.
Some habits are not merely habits.
Some environments are not spiritually neutral.
Some influences are not harmless friendships.
Some pleasures are quietly disciplining your heart to desire what God tells you to reject.
*James 1:14 KJV*
“But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.”
*Temptation often begins by looking attractive before it reveals its consequences.*
_Sin advertises pleasure and hides the bill._
It shows you the excitement but hides the emptiness.
It shows you the appetite but hides the slavery.
It shows you the moment but hides what that moment is teaching your heart to become.
*James 1:15 KJV*
“Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.”
*Notice the progression.*
Desire is entertained.
Desire is cultivated.
Desire produces action.
Action becomes a pattern.
The pattern becomes bondage.
And what once looked like a small compromise becomes a master demanding more.
That is why feeding the flesh is so dangerous.
*1 Corinthians 6:12 KJV*
“All things are lawful unto me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.”
*The question is not merely, “Can I do this?”*
*The harder question is, “Is this beginning to control me?”*
If you can not walk away from it, it deserves examination.
If you constantly need it, protect it, justify it, hide it, defend it, and return to it, then perhaps it is no longer something you merely enjoy. Perhaps it is something that is beginning to rule you.
*Proverbs 25:28 KJV*
“He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.”
*A city without walls is exposed.*
*A life without self-control is exposed.*
When every appetite receives permission, every temptation gets an opportunity.
When every desire becomes a command, discipline disappears.
When comfort becomes more important than obedience, spiritual strength slowly collapses.
*The tragedy is that the person may still look alive outwardly while something inside is becoming spiritually weak.*
Romans 8:5 KJV
“For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.”
*What occupies your mind matters.*
*What you repeatedly watch matters.*
*What you repeatedly listen to matters.*
*Who you repeatedly follow matters.*
*What you repeatedly laugh at matters.*
*What you repeatedly excuse matters.*
*What you repeatedly desire matters.*
_Because the direction of your attention often reveals the direction of your heart._
*Colossians 3:5 KJV*
“Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry.”
*The Bible does not tell you to negotiate with destructive desires. It tells you to mortify them.*
_Kill the habit before the habit kills your discipline._
_Cut off the supply before the appetite becomes your master._
*Stop calling bondage freedom simply because it feels good.*
*Stop calling compromise harmless simply because everyone around you does it.*
*Stop calling temptation entertainment simply because it comes through a screen.*
*Stop feeding the very thing you are asking God to help you overcome.*
1 Corinthians 9:27 KJV
“But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection.”
_Paul understood something modern culture desperately needs to recover._
*Not every desire deserves satisfaction.*
*Not every appetite deserves permission.*
*Not every impulse deserves obedience.*
You are not required to obey every feeling that rises inside you.
Your flesh can demand something without having the right to receive it.
*The brutal truth is this:* Whatever you constantly feed will eventually demand more.
_Feed lust,and lust demands more._
_Feed greed,and greed demands more._
_Feed pride, and pride demands more attention._
_Feed hatred, and hatred demands another reason to hate._
_Feed pornography, and the appetite can become increasingly demanding._
_Feed alcohol abuse, and tolerance can demand more._
_Feed drugs, and the desire can become increasingly destructive._
_Feed gossip, and your mouth learns to destroy people._
_Feed bitterness, and your heart learns to live inside yesterday._
_Feed laziness, and discipline becomes painful._
_Feed bad influence, and eventually you may begin calling their corruption normal._
_Feed the flesh long enough, and eventually you may not recognize how weak you have become._
*Galatians 6:7 KJV*
“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”
*Every repeated choice is a seed.*
*Every habit is a seed.*
*Every compromise is a seed.*
*Every indulgence is a seed.*
And, eventually the harvest reveals what you have been planting.
*Galatians 6:8 KJV*
“For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption.”
*That is the warning.*
The flesh promises satisfaction but produces corruption.
_It promises freedom but can produce bondage._
_It promises pleasure but can leave destruction behind._
_It promises that you can stop whenever you want, until one day stopping becomes the hardest thing you have ever attempted._
*So do not merely ask whether something feels good.*
_Ask what it is producing._
_Ask what it is training you to love._
_Ask what it is doing to your discipline._
_Ask what it is doing to your mind._
_Ask what it is doing to your character._
_Ask whether you are becoming stronger through it or weaker because of it._
*Feeding fleshly desires does not make the flesh satisfied. It makes the flesh hungrier.*
And the more you feed it, the louder it becomes.
_The more you obey it, the more authority you give it._
_The more you excuse it, the harder repentance from that habit becomes._
_The more you normalize it, the less dangerous it appears._
*So stop setting a table for the enemy of your spiritual strength.*
_Stop feeding what is killing your discipline._
_Stop protecting what is destroying your focus._
_Stop entertaining what is weakening your resistance._
_Stop making excuses for what you already know is poisoning your character._
*Feed what makes you stronger. Starve, what makes you weaker.
Because the flesh will always ask for another portion.*
And if you keep saying yes, eventually, the thing you thought you were consuming will reveal that it has been consuming you.
*THE FLOUR AND OIL THAT NEVER RAN OUT*
There was a widow in Zarephath who had almost nothing left.
A severe famine had struck the land. She had only a handful of flour in a jar and a little oil in a jug—just enough to prepare one final meal for herself and her son.
Then the prophet Elijah came to her and said:
“Do not be afraid. Go home and do as you have said. But first make a small loaf for me…”
— 1 Kings 17:13
She obeyed.
And then something impossible happened.
The flour in her jar did not run out.
The oil in her jug did not dry up.
Day after day, she was able to make food.
What looked like her last meal became the beginning of God's provision.
📖 1 Kings 17:8–16
Sometimes, faith is tested when what you have seems too little to give.
But the widow discovered that God's provision was greater than her shortage.
*The question is:*
If you had only enough food for one final meal, would you trust God enough to give first? 👇
