TOPIC: *Explaining Repentance*

Real Repentance comes from a heart that is BROKEN. Not because it got caught, but because it knows it sinned against God.

*2 Corinthians 7:10* states that godly sorrow leads to repentance without regret, resulting in salvation, while worldly sorrow leads to death.

*Godly Sorrow:*
This type of sorrow is characterized by a deep awareness of sin and a genuine desire to turn away from it. It is sorrow that aligns with God's will and leads to repentance.

*Worldly Sorrow:*
This sorrow is often tied to personal loss or worldly troubles, and it may not necessarily lead to a change of heart or a turning away from sin. It can even lead to despair and death.

There is forgiveness and healing in your heart when you start confessing your sins. HE ALREADY KNOWS THEM.

HOW DO YOU ACTUALLY REPENT?

1. Admit your sins.

Start with honesty. Don't try to sugarcoat it because God knows already. Don't try to explain it away. Name the sin, speak it plainly before God. That's where freedom begins.

2. Feel It.

Not with guilt that buries you in shame, but with sorrow and vulnerability that pulls you closer to God.

3. Turn From It.

Repentance literarily means a "Change in direction". *IT DOESN'T MEAN YOU'LL NEVER STRUGGLE AGAIN, BUT IT DOES MEAN YOU'VE MADE A DECISION.*

You're NOT walking towards sin anymore, you're walking towards God. And even if you stumble, you get back up and keep walking God's way.

4. Replace It.

You can't just remove sin. You have to replace it. *FILL THAT SPACE WITH SOMETHING BETTER.*

Feed your spirit by studying the word of God daily. Spend time in prayer and worship, and surround yourself with people *WHO PUSH YOU TOWARDS JESUS* (videos, physically etc).

5. Receive Forgiveness.

*Isaiah 1:18* says Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.

*IF YOU'VE BROUGHT IT TO GOD, THEN HE'S NOT HOLDING IT OVER YOUR HEAD. SO LET GO OF THE SHAME* Walk in grace, it's already yours!

Repentance isn't about PUNISHMENT it's about RESTORATION. It's the road to peace.

*It's NOT A one-time event, it's a lifelong LIFTESTYLE. Every time you fall, you get back up. Every time and everyday!*
