TOPIC: Music and Entertainment become Idols in our Society.
Look at how obsessed people are with celebrities, football matches, award shows, concerts, sporting competitions, music and film festivals, and realise music and entertainment have become Idols in our Society.
*AN IDOL IS ANY THING, PERSON, PLACE, OR ACTIVITY WHICH YOU PLACE AHEAD OF SPENDING TIME WITH JESUS OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR*
The goal isn't just to tempt you with sin. It is to keep your mind too busy for God. *BUSY DOING NOTHING*! One of the devil's favourites tactics is busyness disguised as productivity.
Fans devote massive amounts of time and money to following pop stars. Teenagers tend to idolise musicians wanting to imitate their sounds, style, and behaviour.
*But most celebrities are promoting Ungodly values* which include immorality, sex, drugs, violence, demonic and satanic agendas, etc. Idolising them leads young people away from biblical Truths.
Chains associated with these include: *Comparison, Lust, Anxiety, Distraction, Pride, and Envy*. The more distracted you are, the less time you have for prayer, the Word, and intimacy with Jesus.
*WHAT CAPTURES YOUR ATTENTION, CAPTURES YOUR HEART*
Today, we live in a world designed to break our focus on God. Social media, endless entertainment, and constant notifications are modern tools of an ancient strategy. *TO KEEP US SPIRITUALLY ASLEEP*
Even if the artists/celebrities wanted to praise Jesus in their music, they couldn't because they already signed contracts with record labels, and these labels dictate to these individuals from then on.
*THESE ARE CONTRACTS WITH THE DEVIL*
They are assigned a particular category or genre, for example, hip hop, rnb, and even gospel. In sport, such as football, they are SOLD to a team with a set of teammates, for example, Real Madrid.
The fact that someone is singing a gospel song doesn't mean they are born again or know Jesus. It could be an ACT, or simply for FAME AND FORTUNE.
Just like the Actor that played the role of Jesus in Easter and Christmas movies isn't the actual Jesus, or Superman and Spiderman do not actually exist.
*ANYTHING WE DEVOTE MASSIVE TIME AND ENERGY TO CAN BECOME AN IDOL*
Entertainment easily promotes idolatry because it seems harmless on the surface, but in reality, it slowly consumes our hearts, minds, resources, and time. Time we could spend doing the things of God.
*STOP BEING A FAN OF A CELEBRITY WHO DOESN'T KNOW OR CARE ABOUT YOU. BE A FAN OF JESUS WHO DIED FOR YOU.*
With Jesus, *WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET!*. God is not a man, that he shall tell lies. He is the same yesterday, today and forevermore.
When you accept Jesus into your heart, his Holy Spirit begins to live within you, teaching you all things, including how to depart from your sinful ways and become more like Jesus Christ.
