The greatest misunderstanding in religion today is that man somehow contributes to his own salvation.
TOPIC: *Man contributes NOTHING to SALVATION but the sin that made salvation necessary.*
CIC61: *CELEBRITY IN CHRIST EPISODE 61.*
When Jesus lives within you, your body becomes the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19). *YOU BECOME THE BODY OF CHRIST*
His character produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).
*TAKE NOTE THAT "HIS CHARACTER PRODUCES THE THINGS ABOVE" not "THE THINGS ABOVE PRODUCES HIS CHARACTER"*
Through Him, you receive wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, redemption, authority, and power.
*YOU DON'T HAVE TO ATTEND CHURCH EVERY SUNDAY TO LEARN HOW TO PRETEND TO HAVE THE THINGS MENTIONED ABOVE, YOU NEED TO "REPENT" AND BE EMPOWERED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT*
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” – Philippians 4:13
The greatest misunderstanding in religion today is that man somehow contributes to his own salvation.
*Some say we must help God.*
*Some say grace plus works.*
*Some say faith plus performance.*
But the Bible declares something radically different:
*Salvation is entirely the work of God.*
Let us see why.
1️⃣ *Because Man Is Spiritually Dead*
The problem is not that man is “sick.” The problem is that man is dead in sin.
Ephesians 2:1 (KJV)
“And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;”
*A dead man cannot:*
Help himself
Improve himself
Save himself
*Spiritual death means:*
No spiritual life
No spiritual ability
No spiritual righteousness
No corpse ever revived itself. Salvation must come from outside of us.
2️⃣ *Because All Our Righteousness Is Corrupt*
Many say, “Faith is not enough — we must work also.” GOOD WORKS ARE A FRUIT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. They come AFTERWARDS!
But what does God say?
Isaiah 64:6 (KJV)
“But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags…”
*Notice — not our sins — our righteousnesses are filthy before a holy God.*
The very best we offer God —
Our morality
Our religion
Our charity
Our church attendance
— is polluted by sin.
*You cannot clean dirt with dirt.*
*You cannot wash sin with works.*
3️⃣ *Because Salvation Is By Grace — Not Works*
The Bible is unmistakably clear:
Ephesians 2:8–9 (KJV)
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
*If works had even 1% to do with salvation:*
It would not be grace.
It would not be a gift.
Man could boast.
*Grace means undeserved favor.* A gift means it is freely given. And God will not share His glory.
4️⃣ *Because Mixing Faith and Works Cancels Grace*
Some say, “We need faith AND works to be saved.”
*But Scripture says:*
Romans 11:6 (KJV)
“And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace…”
*You cannot mix grace and works for salvation.
It is either 100% grace or 100% works — and if it is works, no one will be saved.*
*It is not:*
90% grace + 10% works
50% grace + 50% works
*It is 100% grace.*
If salvation is by works, no one will be saved — because no one keeps the law perfectly.
5️⃣ *Because The Law Cannot Save*
The Law was never given to save you — it was given to show you your sin. TO POINT TO THE NEED FOR A SAVIOUR "JESUS CHRIST" through his Holy Spirit.
Galatians 2:16 (KJV)
“Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in christ, and NOT BY THE WORKS OF THE LAW, for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified”
*Three times in that verse it says:
NOT by works of the law.*
If keeping commandments could save, Jesus would not have needed to die.
6️⃣ *Because Christ Finished the Work*
When Jesus died on the cross, He did not say,
“It is started.”
He did not say,
“Do your part now.”
*He said:*
John 19:30 (KJV)
“It is finished.”
*The debt was paid in full.*
*The sacrifice was complete.*
*The work was accomplished.*
Adding works to salvation is saying Christ’s sacrifice was not enough.
7️⃣ *Because Salvation Produces Works — Not The Other Way Around*
Works are evidence of salvation — not the cause of it.
Ephesians 2:10 (KJV)
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works…”
*Works come after salvation.*
*We do not work to be saved.*
*We work because we are saved.*
*Conclusion of Why Man Cannot Save Himself:*
Man is sinful — *Romans 3:23*
Man is condemned — *Romans 3:19*
Man is helpless — *Romans 5:6*
Man cannot justify himself — *Romans 3:20*
*If we could save ourselves:*
The cross was unnecessary.
Grace would not be grace.
Christ died in vain.
*Galatians 2:21 (KJV)
“...for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.”*
*The Only Way of Salvation*
Acts 16:31 (KJV)
“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved…”
*Not believe and work.*
*Not believe and maintain.*
*Not believe and perform.*
Believe.
Faith alone in Christ alone.
*Finally Salvation is:*
_By grace alone
Through faith alone
In Christ alone_
Apart from works
Secure in Him
*Man contributes nothing but the sin that made salvation necessary.*
Christ in you is not just belief — it is divine life, divine power, and divine nature working inside you.
